Neemias Queta and Nuno Belchior: A Tribute in the Form of Public Art

This artistic intervention celebrates two major figures of Portuguese sports, both born in Barreiro: Neemias Queta, the first Portuguese player to reach the NBA, and Nuno Belchior, a cornerstone of the National Beach Soccer Team.

Inspired by the aesthetics of street art, this work merges the urban and contemporary universe with figurative realism, giving voice to the stories and achievements of these two athletes. More than representation, I sought to honor their identities and journeys — transforming this court into a space of memory, inspiration, and local pride.

Here, art and sport meet to send a clear message: the talent born on the streets can reach the very top. This court now also stands as a symbol of dreams and of Barreiro’s identity.
